Plants for the Poor
Plants for the Poor is a project I started exclusively (and specifically) for the Tenderloin Housing Clinic in San Francisco. After noticing that many tenants in the low-income housing provided by THC needed some greenery in their lives, I also realized how great plants were for low-income folks. They provide a small sense of responsibility, oxygenate the air and fill empty rooms with life. Working with donors at the nearby SF Flower Mart, Plants for the Poor intends to green the rooms and lobbies of low-income housing throughout the THC system in San Francisco. In 2012, we hope to initiate a rooftop garden program as a natural evolution of the project. Tenderloin Housing Clinic is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations are tax-deductible.
